BargainBassin is an affordable bass fishing charter, servicing the Lake Ida/Osobrne Chain and Loxahatchee.1
My name is Frank Hawkins and I started BARGAIN BASSIN’ about 4 years ago. I got the idea for this business when during a day of recreational fishing I began a conversation with a couple of retired guys fishing from shore. They were complaining about the limitations of fishing from the dock and the high cost of hiring a guide when they half jokingly asked me to take them out on my boat to fish the lake. Well, I called their bluff and we spent the next few hours swapping stories and catching fish.
At the end of our time together my new friends offered me a generous tip. While I declined the tip the experience left me wondering just how many people might choose to go bass fishing if it didn’t cost quite so much. Most ½ day bass fishing trips start at around $300. A ½ day BARGAIN BASSIN’ trip cost just $150. For a party of 2 that’s only $75/person!
Fishing from the shore can be fun, but there is nothing like fishing from a bass boat. I can’t put my finger on it but there is something special about casting your lure from the platform of a bass boat as you silently maneuver to just the right spots. I have a 16’ Rengade Bass boat with a Yamaha 50hp, perfect for the lakes and canals in South Florida.
While the largemouth bass fishing is pretty darned good all year round, I feel that it is best from March-July and from October-December. Unfortunately the peacock bass population has been negatively impacted by the unusually cold winters of 2009 and 2010 and the fishery is almost non-existent here in Palm Beach county.
So no matter whether you are a veteran bass fisherman, a novice or somewhere in between BARGAIN BASSIN’ is the affordable way to get out on the water and have a great time catching bass!
